|The summertime’s “Jammy Nights,” in which the younger students hear stories read to them as a group by teachers and guests, have now evolved into “Barnes & Noble Read Aloud Nights”—featuring our upper grade OCLM student's reading to our younger ones! Ms. Shoshana’s and Miss Megan’s classes are beginning to work on Native Americans, Pilgrims, the Mayflower, Thanksgiving, and learning how to give thanks.
They are also continuing their science unit on Air and Weather and incorporating it into Habit 1, being proactive, and creating their “own” weather. Miss Megan’s class will be reviewing the different types of clouds and creating their own clouds in class.

Seasons, air, and weather are the science feature for the next several weeks. The students will be learning about what air is and what it does. Also, the four seasons that will include leaf activities for the fall.
Kindergarten math is still focused on Geometry; shapes and exploring the shapes in our world. First grade math is investigating money and learning how to add and subtract money.
Parent conferences are next week and forms are in your child’s homework bag with your scheduled time.

This week the classes are culminating their science unit of the 5 Senses and what it is to be a scientist. They have been adding all of their information into their science journals.

Response To Intervention (LEAD/ELD) is starting this week as well. This is the beginning of working with your child at his or her level.
