Open Class Leadership Magnet Elementary School, in conjunction with the Conejo Schools Foundation, is hosting a visit on Tuesday by educator/author Alfie Kohn who will speak on the topic "Too Much Achievement, Too Little Learning."

In the spirit of giving, along with this year's theme of music, Open Classroom Leadership Magnet School in Thousand Oaks hosted a visit Friday from Flutes Across the World.

Founder John Zeretzke taught kindergartners through fifth-graders to make a flute for themselves and another for a child in Haiti.

Open Classroom Leadership Magnet has been sharing the Conejo Elementary School campus in Thousand Oaks since 1993. Both schools share playground and lunchtime, and they use the same services such as the library, and music and computer teachers.

But the Open Classroom Leadership Magnet has elements that are special to that setting.
